Giuseppe Tortato, for over ten years, is the creator of many of the projects realized by Milano Layout srl, company which he is co-owner. The underlying theme of the design approach of Tortato is to combine experimental dimension and environmental sustainability with concrete professionalism, creating spaces that ensure high comfort encased in elegant architecture.
Born in Venice in 1967, he graduated from the Polytechnic of Milan and then moved to Amherst, Massachusetts, a small university town in New England, cloe to Boston and New York. There, he worked with a pupil of Paolo Soleri in the creation of public and private buildings according to the principles of bioclimatic architecture.
Returning to Milan, and after a couple of years of collaboration with Dante Benini, he intertwined his work experiences to those of Milano Layout, first becoming a member and then co-owner, creating inside the company a management structure dedicated to Real Estate and to the design of new buildings and urban regeneration.
In 2013 he founded Giuseppe Tortato Architects, a new professional container for his work.
He recently created for Beni Stabili SGR the concept of Green Business Hotel in Milan, of which he was a finalist for the Hospitality Award in 2009. In 2010 he received the Hospitality Award for the project of the Metropole Hotel in Paris for GVA Redilco.
He teached hotel design at the Politecnico of Milan and La Sapienza University in Rome. In addition to Milan based Morimondo 23 and La Forgiatura recently completed, the most significant projects currently under construction are: AB Medica building and the residential developement Parco Mare in Trieste.
