The architectural and planning practice was set up by Corinne Itten and Daniel Messerli in 1992. Stefan Gauer became a third partner in 1993. In 1997 the partnership was converted into a limited company known as GIM, Gauer Itten Messerli Architekten AG. The three partners in the practice became acquainted during their studies at ETH Zurich. A congruent approach to projects was the basis for subsequent cooperation under the corporate name of ‘Gauer Itten Messerli, Architekten & Planer’: we understand architecture as a networked and comprehensive design activity which sets out to propose all-round solutions.
