James Dart AIA is principal of the design
firm DARCH in New York City.
Projects include multi-year projects at Bartram’s Garden, in
Philadelphia, the nation’s oldest botanical garden, and a redevelopment project
to build 225 affordable houses in post-Katrina New Orleans. The
firm has won numerous local and national awards, including a 2002
Honor Award from the AIA.
Current work includes the Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum in Brooklyn; Master
Planning for Temple University’s Ambler PA campus; new facilities for the
Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York; and private residences in throughout the
US. In 2005-2007, Dart
participated in a community based planning and design project for New Orleans
East funded by HUD with the Pratt Institute in partnership with Acorn Housing
Corporation, ACD and NJIT. He and Deborah Gans placed third in the High Density on the Higher Ground
competition sponsored by Architectural
Record and Tulane University in 2007. James Dart has taught design
studios at Penn and Drexel, in Philadelphia. He is currently University
Lecturer + Director of the Siena Urban Design Studio at NJIT in Newark.
