I graduated from Dundee University back in 2001 and since then I have worked for Richard Murphy Architects in Edinburgh. During this time, I worked as the project architect on the award winning private house at Pentland Avenue, the social housing scheme at Moore Street, Glasgow and the New School of Education for the University of East London in Stratford. I have also worked on the award winning British High Commission in Sri Lanka and led the competition winning scheme for the New Dunfermline Museum. In 2007, I was appointed an associate of the company. In 2005 I bought a dark, dilapidated former corner shop and converted it into a light, modern home for myself, which was described in Scotland on Sunday’s “At Home” magazine as ‘one of the most exciting one bedroom flats in edinburgh’. I went on to start my own practice, at first helping friends with house extensions and gradually accepting more commissions.I love architecture and I love being an architect. I hope that my friendly and enthusiastic approach helps establish a close working relationship with my clients, to understand their needs and ambitions and realise a final building, which surpasses their original expectations. Borrowing heavily from my experience at Richard Murphy’s, I aim to build on their philosophy of making architecture of its place and its time to enhance my client’s environment, using exciting, innovative and contemporary design to maximise space and light.
