CO|RE design collaborative began in 2004 as cross-continental experiment in architecture & environmental design practice. Eric Reeder and Lancelot Coar have been working together since 1999 when they first began collaborating at the University of California at Berkeley. Today, we continue to partner on both academic and professional projects from our remote locations; Lancelot, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Eric, in Seoul, South Korea. CO|RE’s philosophy recognizes the importance of context and social/ cultural stewardship. Our work is both rural and urban. We seek opportunities to adapt and exploit existing environmental conditions, when possible reusing materials, forms or other locally available resources. CO|RE’s working method promotes ongoing dialogue between the partners and clients for engaging and investigating diverse possibilities.
CO|RE works internationally on a variety of projects types and scales. We currently have active projects in North America and East Asia. Our research defies boundary between academic and professional investigations, using academic ‘framework’ to pursue realized architecture and environmental projects. CO|RE’s experience in residential and 'public' architecture as well as adaptive reuse have built a foundation of environmental awareness; in considering both natural and constructed environments.
