We are living of the age of hyperconnectivity. Technological development has overwhelmingly normalized the ability to be continuously related to the total of human conflicts simultaneously. The interesting thing about virtual omnipresence is that while it makes us partakers of great processes - as spectators or passive protagonists - it generates a false illusion of omnipotence in relation to them. The problem is that in most cases the ability to be in a continuous and simultaneous virtual relationship with the world is inversely proportional to the ability of generating a real action in it. In this context the following question can be asked: Can architecture act as an interface between citizens and big problems, where real action is favored over virtual participation?
In this way, the work of our office is focused on raising architectural problems by understanding the object constructed as an interface. Thus, the project acts as a common border between users and contingency, generating physical, logical or sensorial connections between them.
The previous work hypothesis is tested in three scales of intervention: Mankind against Hunger, as a way of exploring a possible solution to the conflicts caused by poor distribution of food; Mankind against Climate, studying the symbiotic relationships between the citizen and his environment; And Man against man, understanding the project of architecture as an instrument of reconciliation between man and his past.
B + V was founded in 2013 by Eloy Bahamondes E. and Lucas Vásquez G., both architects of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (2013), and Master of Science in Architecture of the Technical University of Berlin (2013), and it works as a study of architecture and sustainability consultant.
