BAAS is an architecture
and design studio set up by JORDI BADIA in 1994, made up of
professionals from different fields, to develop architectural, urban
planning and interior design projects, and complemented by a network of
external collaborators who work on aspects such as structural
calculation, installations, quantity surveying and landscape
architecture.The practice’s habitual fields of work are projects
for public administrations and private clients, in similar proportions.
Outstanding projects include the funeral services in Leon (ar+d Prize)
and Terrassa, CH House in La Garriga (FAD Opinion Prize), the IBERCON
corporate building in Palma de Mallorca, the law courts in Sant Boi
(premio Catalunya Construcció), Ferrer i Guàrdia school in Granollers
(finalist FAD Awards, third prize NORMABLOC, first Bienal Award de
Arquitectura del Vallès), and Can Framis Museum for the Vila Casas
Foundation in Barcelona (Ciutat de Barcelona Award, FAD Opinion Prize,
Finalist 6º Premio Europeo de Paisaje Rosa Barba). The studio
has recently completed various housing blocks, two health centre one in
Salt and the other in Badalona, the Els Gorgs secondary school in
Cerdanyola, the Sant Josep school in Sant Vicenç dels Horts and the SS
House in Mallorca.The practice is currently working on various
projects, including apartment buildings in Barcelona and Majorca, and
facilities and institutional buildings such as the town hall in Montroig
del Camp or the building of the citizens in Palamós, the headquarters
of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre or the new premises of The MUHBA
(Museum of History of Barcelona) in Poblenou district, Barcelona.BAAS
has won various awards for its buildings (FAD award, Ciudat de
Bracelona award 2009) and been featured in numerous specialist
publications (Architectural Review, El Croquis, A+U, Casabella, etc.).
It has also been invited to present its work at conferences around the
world (Hong Kong, Krakow, Budapest, Zagreb, Lisbon, Toulouse...).
