Combining architecture, urban planning, landscape design, furniture making, aesthetic theory, material exploration and a variety of related (and sometimes not-so-related) fields, ATELIER-xs seeks to synthesize contemporary architectural practice and theory. The studio explores the disconnect between the theory and practice of design as an opportunity for experimentation and research at multiple scales through physical constructions, paper architecture, and manifesto. In doing so, the works call to attention the dichotomies of current practices and question the viability of continuing to "do things the way they've always been done."
