Armand LeGardeur Architect is a New York City-based firm specializing in residential and institutional design. We relish creating thoughtfully detailed, well-crafted architecture tailored for modern life.
We are intensely committed to understanding and meeting our clients’ needs and aspirations, and to keeping communication open and active throughout the process of creating a project together.
We love to make things, to turn ideas into built form. We care passionately about the impact of carefully considered spaces and beautifully designed and crafted details. We believe that the combined power of design intention and construction skill can make life better, by creating environments that are comfortable, beautiful, efficient, and gracious.
We deeply value the integrity of our relationships with our clients and with the people who help realize our designs, including contractors, consultants, and craftspeople. We believe beautiful work of lasting value is created through meaningful collaboration, and that successful projects are the work of many minds and hands. We carry out our work with an attitude of respect, high expectation, and deep appreciation for our collaborators.
We have extensive experience working with all kinds of review and regulatory bodies, including coop boards, design review commissions, landmarks commissions, environmental review commissions, and building and planning departments. We are committed to making environmentally responsible choices in all of our work.
Growing up in New Orleans as the son of a builder, Armand LeGardeur developed a deep appreciation of craftsmanship and the building arts, and a love of rich, layered environments that draw on many influences and express many histories. Following his undergraduate degree in architecture at Yale, he worked in New York for Richard Moger Architects and Hobart Betts Architect before returning to school for a master of architecture degree at Columbia University. During eighteen years as a project architect and associate partner at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, he was responsible for the design, project management, and construction supervision of numerous projects including residences in New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, Texas, and California. Mr. LeGardeur founded his own firm in 2000. He is a registered architect in New York and a number of other states; a National Architectural Registrations Board certificate holder; a U.S. Green Building council LEED Accredited Professional; and a member of the American Institute of Architects and The Architectural League of New York.
