ArchiFactory.de is a Gelsenkirchen-based office practicing contemporary architecture, urbanism and design. It started in 1999 with the founders and principle directors, Matthias Herrmann and Matthias Koch after studying architecture at the Universität Dortmund and Staatliche Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart.
Their aim is, to develop architecture based on no external visible sign, which is style-forming. They understand architecture as a process of change, as a journey, as a permanent departure towards new solutions within which familiar, well-known, and reliable aspects can manifest themselves in new and different shape. The development of strict concepts for their customers, the realisation of the clients` and their visions, always comprise an examination of the perception of the viewer, the showing, and the appearing.
ArchiFactory.de`s approach towards each project is the systematic elaboration of a strong idea of design. For that, they expend a significant period of time of the entire project. Building on this concept, they develop the content and function, the expression and aesthetics, nature and culture. A high degree of sensitivity concerning the dealing with simple, archaic, but also highly technical, complex materials lead to another visibility and exceptional room effects.
