Born 1983 in the idyllic island of Penang, Alvin graduated from the Singapore Polytechnic and joined WOHA Architects as Project Coordinator for 6 months in 2004. He was awarded the Golden Jubilee Scholarship and the Undergraduate Scholarship from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to pursue his further studies in architecture at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Upon graduation, Alvin returned to Singapore in 2008 where he joined the URA as a Graduate Scholar. His 4 year stint with the planning authority brought fruition to numerous public urban projects like the 4.9km long Punggol Waterfront Promenade, the 1.2km long heritage trail & environmental improvement works at Balestier Road and the development of a electrical substation building for the new Jurong Lake District. Outside of work, Alvin has always been keen in exploring design typologies at a more micro scale. This has spurred him to embark on interior design projects, crafting and shaping living spaces. Good design should be accessible to anyone and interior design can and will affect the way we live, feel and touch. While Alvin's design style is minimalist, simplistic and contemporary in nature, he is constantly improving and adding new layers of meaning to his personal projects. Alvin currently practices in the private sector.
