The profound interest in the multidisciplinary nature that Architecture encompasses is the primary motivation for SAU to work on solutions and projects of various types and scales, in both the public and private sectors. The Studio has a large number of completed projects, with highlights including some awards in national design competitions, such as the Cultural, Social, and Sports Complex of the Liga Solidária in São Paulo (2022), Urbanism and Architecture Projects for the QNR 06 Housing Sector in Ceilândia (2018), and the Administrative Headquarters of the Porto Alegre City Council (2014), among others.
SAU is located in São Paulo and is led by architect André Biselli Sauaia. Since 2002, it has worked in partnerships with other firms in collaborations or design competitions. It maintains a constant connection with academic research, understanding that the professional practice of design and academic research mutually enrich each other. The Studio’s work has a comprehensive history in various sectors, scales, locations, or purposes: residential, educational, institutional, cultural, commercial, among others. Inspired by the concept of collective production and action, the Studio is established as a creative environment that values collaboration and the sharing of knowledge, architectural knowledge, and worldly knowledge with its collaborators, partners, and clients.
Among other objectives, Architecture seeks to materialize new buildings and collaborate in the development of cities through creative and precise design, with constant attention to the importance of place and the socioeconomic reality where it is inserted. In each project, there is a unique integration of functionality with the building’s purpose, its expression, and its meaning, with an emphasis on the importance that a construction has for the community and the people who use it.
Each new project brings a new problem and a new challenge to be addressed, making this condition a source of enchantment with the activity inherent in Architecture, constantly bridging the world of arts and constructive techniques. Balancing these realities with the client's budget and program requirements through technique, in Architectural Form, with economic lines and an unequivocal commitment to the identity of Brazilian Architecture is what guides this firm’s practice.
