Founded in 1981 by University of Minnesota Architecture and Harvard GSD graduate Colby Andrus AIA, Sedia provides high quality Italian modern furniture and lighting to architects and interior designers throughout New England and the United States. We have provided furniture solutions for commercial projects such as the Kaufman Performing Arts Center in Kansas City, the Jacob Javitz Center in New York, the Hartford Public Library and the Whitehead Institute at MIT.
Sedia’s specialty has always been reproductions of early 20th Century modern design by icons such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Eileen Gray. Our Bauhaus and mid-century designs are 100% Italian made to the specifications of the original designs and comparable in quality to those produced by the licensed manufacturers. After conducting extensive research on 20th century design, Matrix International is now producing unique lost classics such as lounge seating groups and glass pedestal tables by Eero Saarinen and smaller pieces by designers such as Paul Frankl, Lilly Reich and Wolfgang Hoffman.
Over the past 15 years, Sedia has integrated new designs and manufacturers into our collection to supplement the classics for which we are best known. Sedia has formed relationships with both established and emerging Italian manufacturers and designers who are looking to increase their exposure and distribution in the US. If any of these lines are of interest to you please let us know and we will arrange for you to receive more extensive literature.
Sedia prides itself on a level of service and knowledge of modern furniture design not consistently found among larger distributors. As we strive to continually improve on our personalized service we invite you to discuss options and inquiries at info@sedia.com or 1.800.BAUHAUS (1.800.228.4287). Our office/showroom is located in Boston's South End at 535 Albany Street.
