In this twenty-five minute video, One Drawing Challenge juror Eric Reinholdt reflects on the meditative power of sketching during the early part of the Covid-19 lockdown period. While the world has since opened back up to ‘the new normal,’ Eric’s lessons about finding creativity during a difficult period and developing a design through sketching remain relevant today. Indeed, the video transitions as Eric walks views through a digital drawing that he’s been working on, dissecting his creative process and inspiring viewers to get lost in their sketchbooks too.

He says, “Time spent in my sketchbook is focused and without distraction. It’s a space to think and be creative without the strict boundaries of budgets and schedules. It’s reminded me that not everything I design needs to be rooted in reality, that daydreaming and suspending the laws of physics have value too and can nourish my architecture practice in meaningful ways.”
