Rain Becomes Art, Life and Sustenance in This Mexican Dwelling

Deep in the mountains west of Mexico City, Robert Hutchison Architecture unveils ‘Rain Harvest Home,’ a masterful embodiment of their commitment to elegance, economy and environmental connection.

This unique dwelling, dispersed across three wood structures, not only harmonizes with the landscape but also pioneers a self-sufficient water system. Drawing from the region’s historical reverence for water, each structure collects rainwater, integrating it into a reservoir and on-site treatment process, thus meeting the home’s water needs year-round.

In true RHA spirit, this approach underscores their belief in architecture as a bridge — connecting past to present, nature to man and conservation to daily living. The Rain Harvest Home is more than a house; it’s a living dialogue on sustainable futures.
