PAULO MERLINI ARCHITECTS Ingeniously Restores and Modernizes an Old Farmhouse

When disassembling this old farmhouse, PAULO MERLINI ARCHITECTS discovered that the house’s façade was actually covered up of three small houses built by the former owner. The firm took advantage of this feature; they maintained the structure of the original volumes and reclaimed their original uncovered shape. The now three separate buildings were unified by a slab pathway, which simultaneously fill with light the entire ground floor below. A garden roof by the slabs offers a new intimate garden for all the rooms and private areas of the house, called CASA RIO.
