This Micro Community Park Offers a New Model for the ‘Art City’

Wanting to offer versatile and inclusive communal facilities for its citizens, the city of Tongzhou, China, organized an international masterplan competition in 2018 to envision a new model for the concept of the “Art City”. Crossboundaries – the firm that won the competition – was commissioned to transform a linear streetscape close to the Xiaopu Cultural Plaza into a lively outdoor community park. This project is the first of many vibrant designs emerging in the community.
