Future Fest: Buildings for a Changing World With Michael Green

Architizer Editors Architizer Editors

How does architecture play a role in our current world of shifting economics, global conflict, a rapidly changing climate and environment, and distressing social division? As design professionals, we must ask ourselves if we are addressing these social, political, environmental, and economic realities in our work, or are we simply trying to hold our heads above water. With so many issues to confront, how do we become leaders again, maintain our industry’s voice, and create change without becoming overwhelmed? How do we champion a greener, friendlier, more connected, more dynamic and more vibrant future?

Michael Green, founder and principal of the A+Award-winning Michael Green Architecture, seeks the answers to these questions and more during this fascinating presentation at Future Fest 2022. Presenting projects that harness the firm’s specialist knowledge of cross-laminated timber in construction, Michael explains how the mission of an architectural firm can extend to its practice and beyond, making a profound impact on society as a whole.

During this talk, you’ll learn:

  • Strategies for bringing ‘Meaning, Vision, and Mission’ into the core of your architecture practice.
  • Why a business plan is essential to creating impactful design.
  • What actions we can take as individual architects, as practices, and as an industry to not only keep our heads in the game but become an active contributor to positive change in our society.
