Designed by the Australian architecture firm Cumulus, Goulburn Street Housing is a 25-apartment public housing complex in Hobart, Australia, created from a cluster of playful, rectangular forms.
The project resulted from a state government collaboration with the firm to identify suitable sites for new public housing for the elderly and disabled. Cumulus’ design rebukes the negative stereotypes of public housing by prioritizing natural light, ventilation and generous outdoor space.
