Agence Spatiale Explores Modern Design Principals in a Quebec Primary School

Architizer Editors Architizer Editors

École primaire Margueritte d’Youville by Agence Spatiale inc. is a plan for a modernized elementary school in Saguenay, Quebec. Delicately rooted in its site, the school’s silhouette embodies a genuine reflection of Saguenay’s northern nature. On a territorial scale, the design is sensitive to vernacular practice and promotes the innovative use of local materials, raw and recycled.

The school is intended to be a caring place, encouraging candor and discovery; a second home where children will be able to blossom, develop authenticity and ingenuity, and take care of themselves and others.
