Eagle Academy PCS at McGogney, an award winning project, is a full renovation and addition to a former DCPS school.
The 87,000-square-foot project accommodates 770 students. The new building exterior is composed primarily of polycarbonate multiwall sheets, creating a lantern effect and a neighborhood icon.
PHASE A: Fast-tracked renovation of a 1965 era, 60,000-square-foot public elementary school including a complete retrofit of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. The project also included removal and replacement of all windows and new partitions for administrative/
office spaces, special education spaces, and early education programs.
PHASE 1B/C: The second stage consists of a new 21,000-square-foot addition to the existing renovated and occupied school building. The addition houses a gym, pool, locker rooms, library, computer center, and administrative offices. Also included in this phase is the creation of approximately 6,000 square feet of finished classroom space below the existing elevated building. The project is pursuing LEED® for Schools Silver Certification.
Eagle Academy was awarded the 2014 AWARD OF EXCELLENCE,
the highest AIA Nova’s award designation.
