Having a perfect smile is of vital importance: it is one of the first things others notice when meeting you and it is also a reflection of your personality, attitude, energy, and natural beauty.
The concept was to illuminate this very dense, chaotic residential neighborhood while at the same time giving it the opportunity to belong to its surroundings and ultimately to be obvious that is a dental clinic. The challenge therefore, was to transform a building with a deep residential identity into a medical one, and giving it a new life form by presenting a completely new design.
Each one of these buildings has a unique story that is different from one another according to the function of its users. A story that is rooted in the culture of these people, both in terms of lifestyle and aesthetics. Keeping that in mind, we decided to create this new form emerged into the neighborhood that would brighten up the area and therefore ‘make it smile’. The use of white colors and curved forms, both into the interiors and exteriors, helped to visually create a smooth shape, and a deep sense of cleanness and freshness.
The old structure of the building was totally preserved, with a few additions and premises at the entrance and on the second floor in order to meet the needed spaces for the dental clinic, and of course in order to curve all the exteriors to fully meet the concept and design needs.
The curve strategy, guided also the indoors design process, made almost every corner was perfectly shaped in order to bring together a clean fresh medical environment and create an atmosphere of comfort and flow. Moreover, this shape strategy had another important mission, distract the patient from the purpose of his visit once they get inside the clinic. But undulating walls are beyond just looking pretty, they are also a practical solution for hygiene, an extremely important aspect for a dental clinic.
Regarding the interior, cast in shades of pastel colors and white, were vividly attributed to the space, making it feel warm, comforting, light, and at the same time creating a sense of calm and relaxation for the patients, but also for the daily staff. The presence of natural light was crucial in each area of the building, considering that the surrounding buildings are very close and not windows can have the required, glass bricks were thoroughly used in order to allow light to get inside the interiors, and yet, they do not violate privacy.
