Powerhouse Company took ASICS’ mission statement – A Sound Mind in a Sound Body – and translated it into a new EMEA headquarters that boosts workplace health and wellness, as well as innovation. Central to the concept is an immersive brand experience.
ASICS World, a playful multi-layer, three-dimensional showcase of ASICS products, is placed at the heart of the building – in a soaring atrium that acts as the building’s social center. Broad, ‘sit-able’ staircases wrap around this core, encouraging interaction and movement. As well as diverse working and meeting spaces, we added balconies, a gym and a restaurant, similarly inspiring both social interaction and healthy lifestyles.
The visible movement of people around the building through the open staircases support physical and visual interaction between coworkers. A lively system of staircases connects the different levels around the atrium, breaking the horizontal continuity of the floors. The office interior has a pleasant human scale and feels spatial at the same time. The diversity in the workplace concept and the way it is implemented in relation to the architecture creates unique places all around, offering varied experiences in each part of the office building.
Outside, continuous overhangs are used to shield the building from the sun and define its sleek horizontal geometry. Facades and a roof made entirely from glass fill the office building with natural light. The efficient and flexible layout optimally supports various types of work, geared towards innovation and collaboration, making the design future proof. It radiates sports and movement where the building is constructed according to the latest standards in sustainability, as defined by the WELL Gold and LEED Gold certifications.
ASICS EMEA HQ redefines the contemporary office as a space where innovation, brand experience and a healthy lifestyle unite.
