Following its completion of a grand New York City flagship for Porcelanosa last year, award-winning Foster + Partners has found itself collaborating with the high-end tile and bath brand — on a much different scale. At last month’s Cersaie — the premier international exhibition of ceramic tile and bath furnishings in Bologna, Italy — Porcelanosa unveiled a new bathroom range by the celebrated architecture firm.
Called TONO, the line is exactly what one would expect to see coming out of Foster’s office: It’s sleek, minimalist, refined yet industrial. TONO is a comprehensive family that includes everything from baths and showers to mirrors and accessories to ensure a cohesive design. Yet each element can stand on its own and blend in with other products and diverse backdrops as it offers a universally clean aesthetic.
“We have designed an integrated range of bathroom furnishings whose minimalist aesthetic brings to the fore an honesty of material, simplicity of form and the craft of manufacturer,” commented Mike Holland, lead for the TONO design team and head of industrial design at Foster + Partners.
The TONO series consists of Elements and One. The former includes mirrors, brassware, integrated timber storage units, benches, baths, bidets and basins, while the latter comprises three prefabricated products (shower, sink and wash closet) that boast ease of installation in existing spaces.
