Grouping individual pendants to create a custom chandelier isn’t a new concept. But a spate of LED-based products that lend themselves well to such applications are making it possible to design more efficient installations.
Pablo’s Cielo fixtures at the Héctor Esrawe showroom in Mexico City.
At the Mexico City, Mexico, showroom for designer Héctor Esrawe, for example, Diez Company conceived a dynamic arrangement using 104 of Pablo’s Cielo pendants. Carefully installed within a staircase of this former 1940s house, the Cielo fixtures were specified in satin aluminum and feature state-of-the-art flat-panel LED technology that is completely glare-free and dimmable. And each is estimated to provide up to 50,000 hours of illumination, to boot.

“The surprising vertical and horizontal layout was conceived to allow many different viewing angles as you ascend the staircase,” describes Pablo Pardo, founder and CEO of his namesake manufacturing company. “Cielo truly lives up to its name in this installation, as it reminds one of rain droplets falling from the sky.”

Artemide
Artemide: LED Net Suspension
