In the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, a remarkable transformation is underway.
Driven by the question, “”How can architects reimagine Middle America’s aging commercial corridors for 21st-century community building?”” this ambitious project has found compelling answers.
1. Reinvention: A 1957 building, transformed into a progressive, environmentally responsible office space (663 South Cooper), shines as a carbon-neutral marvel.
2. Comparison: Its adjacent twin, another 1957 building of 3,400 sf, serves as a model for conventional standards, allowing for vital performance comparison.
3. A New Model: The Carbon Neutral Corridor demonstrates an economically viable path for revamping similarly aged structures, creating connections, embracing design excellence, and actively fighting climate change. This innovative project, certified as the world’s first dual Zero Energy and Zero Carbon renovated building, symbolizes a path forward in environmental sustainability.
