The Dong Fureng House Museum is a traditional brick-wood building and the birthplace of the famous economist Dong Fureng. Through a series of finely refurbished rooms, the museum beautifully showcases Fureng’s academic achievements and offers spaces for academic forums and conferences.
The main challenge for WIT Design & Research before renovating was that the museum is a listed building with historical significance, so it was subject to strict regulations to protect the character of its heritage. The firm chose a limited and unobtrusive design which cost just under $250, 000 — a meager sum for this type of renovation. The museum is now more sustainable and better suited as an exhibition and congregation space.
