Puzzling Zenith concentrates on non-traditional
bracing structure. This project proposed the new evolution of structure which
provides certain qualities, not only as structure but also ornament. By studying the traditional cross-bracing and
go against its simplicity, it allows achieving a new structural creation by
exploring the mesh/triangulation bracing system combined with the puzzling
idea.
The principal of counter bracing is the triangulation
system which is rigid and stable and yet applicable to any freeform. This
project is a celebration of the idea going against the static image of a
traditional counter bracing. It starts by distorting and moving the crossing
point and corner points of the bracing in the 4 point area then positioning
random or deliberate interruption points within the bracing to create
triangulated mesh system by connecting the points within its zone. Like a
puzzle, it needs a contour to match in order to interlock each piece. Then, the
contour of the structure is defined as the profile of the puzzle.
