The project involved merging and refurbishing two stacked apartments in a 1980s’ waterside development in London Docklands, into a prestigious four-bedroom penthouse. The brief provided for a contemporary minimalistic design with areas of exposed brickwork and treated timber. We tried to reveal and highlight the existing characteristics of the actual space: large floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows; double-aspect rooms and views from the upper level. We improved the zoning, opening the kitchen into the spacious living area at the lower level and relocating master bedroom to the upper floor. Key features of the apartment are the new stairs with integrated storage and the bespoke fireplace with ethanol burner featuring an AV system built into its surround.
