Conceived as a
campus for sports on a regional scale, this project integrates a great
diversity of programs (covered pool, multisport courts, gymnasium, lodging,
etc). To give a strong identity to a
project situated on a site with no contextual surroundings or discernible
character, we chose to ground the multifarious elements of the program into a
continuous, inhabited wall. This
infrastructural wall, at the scale of land art, is 350 m long and fabricates a
series of public spaces along its length. The various structures housing the sports facilities are organized
along an interior street which echos the public space created by the wall on
the other side. Committed to a
sustainable approach, the project uses sophisticated passive ventilation
methods as well as solar energy to render the complex as autonomous as possible
in terms of its energy needs.
