The project offers flexible, open floor plans. The spaces are well
organized around a functional structural grid, vertical circulation and
services, providing the highest flexibility to the living units. The units are
extremely adjustable; inhabitants can easily increase or decrease their living
space according to their needs.
The façade is conceptualized as an 'open wall'. It has a direct
response to the flexibility that the building offers on the inside. The
louver system can be adjusted by the inhabitants to either open or block the
views, providing regulation of natural light. The façade registers and animates
the life of the inhabitants directly onto the skin of the building. It becomes
a 'living membrane', documenting the life of the building through the years.
By its changing appearance through daytime and lifetime, the façade
becomes a 'living membrane', reacting to the life of the inhabitants.
Workshops and office spaces are located on the ground floor. LMJ
offers the flexibility for small creative cells and shared offices, providing
the street level with life throughout the day and late into the night. LMJ is
an ideal combination of flexible living and working conditions in Paris.
