The competition brief specified a series of facilities to replace the original Delft University of Technology Architecture Faculty, that was destroyed in a fire on 13th May 2008. Our response was to divide the building programmes into 3 categories; Performance, Research and Development and Facilitators. We quantified the various facilities based on the specification of the brief and then used these volumes to begin arranging the building campus. By creating a ground canvas we were able to explore the relationship between the historical layers of the City of Delft, the [relatively] recent interventions of the TU Delft 'the genius loci' and the new programmes and methods of learning that the brief required 'the ziggurat'.
