The client, a hydronic components and systems company, needed to renew its old offices and build a new structure to host workshops, conferences, workplaces, recreation activities and exhibitions, and that includes the loading bays too, as part of the logistics. So the aim was a building that was as flexible as possible. Furthermore, it should be very characterizing and iconic, symbolizing the spirit of the company, making it immediately recognisable.
The concept started from the company's DNA (technology, innovation and dynamism), and from company's colours and logo. So the building has been designed as a big orange cube that opens itself to the surroundings through cuts in its suface. The cladding is relized with expanded metal panels, that give the facade a lightness that hide the solid heart of the building, made by concrete and glass. The interiors of the new building are made by big open spaces, that can be used for different purposes, while the old building is renewed specifically to locate offices and meeting rooms.
A big part of the design process has been dedicated to the environment and sustainability, with the creation of a garden that, connecting all the buidings of the company, is central to the project. Various tree species were planted, so to contribute to the improvement of environmental quality.
The new building is used for many events that are open to the public too (art exhibitions, awards, social meetings), so to create a connection between the industrial reality and the community of the town in which the company was funded and grew up.
