Gathering
This gravity defying stone column installation was commissioned by an international charity. The charity had a very large empty garden and they wanted an artwork which would encourage people to go for a walk outside. The sculpture consists of 18 columns, each column is made up of one ton welsh slate. The stones appear as though they are balancing on top of each other in a haphazard manner. I placed the columns in such a way that they appear to be gathering, the columns seem to move closer to each other as you approach the artwork, depending on which angle you walk towards it. The artwork was placed in such a way that it became a central gathering point for the people working and living on the premisses.
