The project is located on the north edge of
Museum Park as a station of Metromover (an elevated public transportation in
Miami). South of the site is a park owned by the City of Miami, which has
ambitious plans to relandscape the park and introduce two museums ( an Art
Museum and an Science Museum) nearby the station on its south.
Inspired by the ocean waves, I am trying to
integrate and cover several functions together as a dynamic and flexible
organism, which makes it possible to give pedestrians a variety of interesting
experience when they coming from different directions . With a green roof and
smooth shape, it is also friendly with its surrounding area.
Its main elevation(viewed form the plaza
between the Art Museum and the Science Museum) is used as a metaphor to reflect
the relationship between ART and SCIENCE by having two “hills” with pairs of
opposite characteristics, like natural and artificial, closed and opened, being
past over and crossed through (by the train) and etc.
There is an “outflying” mark, like a cloud,
on this humble structure. The “cloud” is a wind-driven generator, which can get
the station self-supported by the energy created. It could also be illuminous
at night, which makes it a remarkable landmark not only during the day but at
night as well.
