Our proposal at Coalwharf Road pioneers a sustainable development that is inspired by the dramatic character of the nearby Georgian architecture and industrial harbour side history of Wisbech. The scheme will create publicly accessible areas at ground level with retail units while providing 12 residential units on the upper levels.
The building is being designed flexible and layouts are easily adjustable. The accessibility and efficiency of the flats is increased by the use of two separate cores. Each flat can be accessed by a lift and the flexibility of the layouts will enable users to adjust the interiors to meet their needs.
The masterplan proposal provides public, communal and private outdoor spaces. The residential apartments have their own shared outdoor spaces on the south side of the development. It is also proposed that roofs are treated as green roofs, including private gardens for the residential units.
By making the most of the advantages of wood in combination with othe materials, we will try to create a building in which it will be a pleasure to live, work and visit.
The project aims for Code for Sustainable Homes – min CSH rating of Level 4
