A variety of renovations during the 1970s left this domestic space in a
state of stylistic confusion. Anita Eyrich was commissioned to restore a
sense of spatial harmony and openness to the apartment. Existing door
openings were heightened to 2,4 metres to compliment the height of the
rooms. A larch floor was laid seamlessly throughout the space. The
bathroom was expanded and opened up to connect to the adjacent room at
one corner, allowing for a playful spatial dynamic. Separate rooms now
relate to each other more generously as a result of a more consistent
use of colour and materials (basalt stone appears in both bathrooms;
furniture made of light cherry wood recurs throughout the apartment).
Additional nuances were lent to the apartment through a subtle variety
of lighting solutions, patterned curtains and painted wall areas.
