The project concerns a new four storey apartment building with an underground parking space, in a plot area of 1042sm, in the city of Koropi. The basement has an area of 520sm area and the rest of the four storey building,1200sm for apartments and closed public spaces.
The connection with the street is achieved through a mild inclined pedestrian road/ alley, almost in a vertical axis to the main street. This pedestrian road leads to the entrance of the property and then to the entrance of the building. The main entrance is constructed as an inclined alley for a smooth transition from the public to the private space of the building. In the main axis of this pathway an array of trees is planted, referring to the extensions of the public space to the private without violating security issues of the building.
The main volumes of the building are constructed on either side of this alley and they are connected through a “bridge”. The main concept of the design is the building volumes to interact with patios and alleys. The plot had as a main characteristic that it has an extremely asymmetric shape. Through the dispersion of the building volumes, a bigger building perimeter can be achieved and furthermore longer façade for the apartments. At the same time, with the interval of the patios The green and the patios contribute to the privacy between the apartments (vocal and optical).
