I come from the Norwegian west coast and grew up surrounded by people who loved to create things: engineers, masons, electricians - craftsmen. I studied to become a licensed architect at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) with a joint Bachelor in Philosophy and was later awarded a degree as Master of Architecture at ESARQ in Barcelona, Spain.
The architectural firm Einar Wahlstrøm MNAL was established in 2001. I undertake assignments throughout Norway and work exclusively with single family houses and reconstruction/extensions for private landlords. Thoughtful, rich and personal homes are my specialty and passion.
I work alone, I'm not part of a large firm I'm informal, but focused on the job I don't produce, I create
After working for 10 years as an architect at firms in Oslo and Stavanger I went on a two-year sabbatical in order to educate myself as a carpenter and joiner. This unusual combination of competence has given me a different perspective and understanding of what it means to be an architect. On the one hand there's the craft, manual labour and physical toil - on the other; bleeding edge technology, ideas and processes.
I'm also a passionate dog lover and father to two Irish Wolfhounds named Bingley and Monty.
