Karen Donaghy Named as VP of Media at Architizer

Donaghy arrives at Architizer on a mission — to put media front and center, while integrating sales with content and marketing.

Karen Donaghy has joined Architizer as VP of Media. Overseeing the national sales team, Donaghy will lead advertising efforts for the Architizer brand, connecting architects and brands with the tools they need to help grow their businesses and celebrate their work. Donaghy will articulate Architizer’s value proposition to our clients and serve as an advocate for them, driving Architizer’s long-term mission to empower architects with information to build better buildings, better cities, and a better world.

Donaghy joins Architizer at a time of impressive growth. Traffic to Architizer.com increased 18% last year, with more architects and designers engaging with the platform than ever more. During this time, advertising revenue has increased 110 percent, but the potential to grow further is strong, and the team will now aim to bring fresh, ambitious initiatives to its audience with the help of Donaghy’s expertise in the design space.

Donaghy arrives at Architizer on a mission — to put media front and center, while integrating sales with content and marketing. Her addition to the team promises to take Architizer to the next level within the architectural media industry, providing brands and firms with new opportunities to showcase their products and projects to an entire ecosystem of architectural stakeholders.

“Karen has a stellar reputation in design publishing — from our peers, clients, and partners on the agency side,” said David Weber, Architizer’s CEO. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to add her to the all-star roster here at Architizer.”

Prior to joining Architizer, Karen spent four years as Publisher at Contract Magazine. Before joining Contract, Karen was a Regional Director at Interior Design Magazine.  She began her career in publishing at Conde Nast.

In the near term, Donaghy will bring her wealth of expertise to help elevate Architizer’s A+Product Awards — set to relaunch as a stand-alone awards program for building product manufacturers this May — and will also work with Architizer’s existing member brands to understand their vision for 2021 and beyond. In the longer term, Architizer’s community will benefit from Donaghy’s holistic approach to content, marketing and sales, allowing them to make the most of their position on this inspiring platform.
