The Ya House, a residential project located in Karaj, Iran, wholly embodies this principle, a design born from the poetic pursuit of elemental dialogues: light, silence, sky, and earth.
Form, Site, and Spatial Dialectic
The formal resolution of the Ya House hinges on a principle of environmental determinism, allowing the building’s orientation and footprint to be meticulously shaped by the specific, inherent conditions of the site. The phenomenological play of light—its careful calibration on the façade and its diffusion through the inner spatial planes—is what reveals the massing and gives the tectonic expression of the structure its very vitality.
The visitor is guided through a carefully orchestrated dialectic experience defined by the circulation path. The journey commences within a thickened spatial envelope of controlled, soft light, fostering an initial sense of intimacy and introspection. The path then begins a deliberate ascent, culminating in a sanctuary utterly saturated with light, where acoustic silence takes on a palpable form. This progression is not merely visual; it is perceived and registered through the pure kinesthetic movement of the body, anchoring the human presence within the geometric volumes.
Poetics of Connection
Within this rigorous framework, the bridges and stairs are designed as critical anchors of the narrative, far exceeding their utilitarian function as connections.
