Amongst the hills of Chianti, a place distinguished for the beauty of the countryside and the sweetness of the landscape, is nestled the ancient and hystorical building complex of a former presbytery, adjoining to the VII century Church.
The buildings, constructed in the Middle Ages as priest's house, are inspired by the rural dwelling type, with very thick walls built of exposed brick and stone.
The building complex consists of four separate houses, set around a central courtyard, and divided into two floors.
Given the gradual and continuous degrading of the buildings, due to years of neglect and carelessness, it was proposed a very complicated renovation project of the building complex, aimed at dignified reuse of the ancient houses, without disrupting their basic essence. Primary endpoint was to regain the ground floor, made by small and dark rooms, for the residential use. To this end, the floor has been significantly lowered, the rooms have been enlarged and some door/windows reopened, thence allowing natural light to invade anywhere the inside and to draw evocative atmospheres, cadenced by the dynamic of the perspective foreshortenings.
Distinctive feature of the project is the swimming pool, consisting of a long-narrow bath, built with materials and techniques that can integrate as much as possible the basin with the surroundings: oriented along the longitudinal axis north-south, visually is the continuation of the terrace of the main building, which continues a bit with steps, up to "diving" in the lower basin, pandering the slight natural slope of ground.
