Bruno Traven reflects the office commitment with sustainable development by recycling structures instead of demolishing. The project raises from the idea that many houses build in the past mid century in Mexico City contained enough space to allow some improvements that give an update to the structure and permit the re use of it instead of demolishing and build from cero, which means tons of bricks turned in garbage an the consumption of new materials which is energy and economically waste. So where therefore lived only one family 60 o 70 years ago now can live 3 or more families.
The building is located in a mid class neighborhood in Mexico City, and when the property was bought by our client it was a 2 stories house, but legally we could add one more floor. So the project was about turn an old house into an apartment building of 3 stories which contains one apartment per floor.
