This design study for a hillside site in Tallebudgera Valley is an exercise in architectural subservience. The primary design intent was to create a private retreat that blends quietly into the landscape, acting as a considered vessel for observing and experiencing the surrounding bushland.
The architecture is deliberately understated, conceived as two distinct pavilions arranged in an L-shape to form a sheltered, north-facing central courtyard. This courtyard, containing the pool and timber deck, becomes the social and visual heart of the home—a protected clearing within the trees.
