We found that in ‘almost’ every culture, the spiritual dimension is driven by a vertical displacement in contrast to the physical dimension which is driven by a horizontal displacement. Taking this idea as the starting point for the design process we placed a vertical plate as a unifying element for the two main buildings of the Cultural Center: the library and the museum.
We believe this project sets forward architecture not only as a phenomenological experience
but also as an urban connector, between street and park, creating public space and forginig relatioships within the boundaries of Taichung City.
