The many city architectural evidences of the Twentieth century are part of the contemporary russian culture. Therefore,
maintaining the historical features by means of conserving the old buildings
would keep alive the conglomerate of themes that characterises the modern
Moscow. Changing the face of the Pushkinsky Cinema is a challenge and an
opportunity to compare and synthesise the past, the present and the future of the
Russian architecture. The splendour of the past that surrounds like a halo this
building must be kept intact. Thus, the project, though innovative, must deal with
its history and build its future on it. Including the old cinema, i.e. the symbol
of past, inside two other structures, i.e. the symbols of present and future,
is the incoming idea of this project.
