The project site lies in an area directly overlooking the river Guadalquivir between the Chapina bridge and the
Navigation Pavilion, built on the occasion of the 1992 EXPO. In the project choice, I decided that the volume
should embrace the existing park.
The aim of the Sports Center is to seek direct contact with the river while preserving the public pathway
characterizing the left bank of the Guadalquivir.
The Sports Center consists of three volumes interconnected by a unitary circuit linking the spaces by means of
ups-and-downs and changes in level following the natural landform. The project is characterized by a single
architectural type which seeks to give a common aspect and continuity to the three elements. In its interior the
Sports Center has, in its first volume, a reception area, a bar, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming
pool, changing rooms and spaces for physiotherapy.
There is a walkway leading to the second element consisting of a polyvalent gymnasium, the stands and the
changing rooms on the floor below. In the last volume there is a bar and a restaurant with an outside terrace
overlooking the river, making the Sports Center a real multi-functional center for the city of Seville.
