Project Description and Concept:
Initial issues and challenges of the project include: urgent need for roofing, disorganization in terminal management, location in the traditional and religious context of District 1 of Tehran city (close to Imamzadeh Saleh (AS) shrine, Tajrish Bazaar, Salehiye Plaza and Tajrish Square), appropriate elevation, direct and very good view of the mentioned locations and Alborz Mountains
After examining the needs, views, urban context, climatic conditions, and similar experiences in the use category of taxi terminals in different countries and Tehran, the design concept was directed towards combining Iranian and contemporary architecture to meet the identity of the context, existing and future functional needs.
Design idea statement: Due to the integrated concept, a number of authentic elements of Iranian architecture were used, such as the Ahang arch on the roof (one of the oldest arches, about 2000 years old), traditional arch compositions such as the Holchin in the center and the gentle goat horn on the sides were used on the northern and southern facades, and in the decoration section, turquoise glazed bricks were used on the edges of the facade walls and a lotus flower design with a turquoise and green color combination was used on the four facades of the terminal, and the main materials of the terminal are traditional bricks. The edge of the roof on the northern and southern facades is arched, which is consistent with the special surfaces and forms of the Alborz mountains and hills. The roof is also wavy from the inside, instilling a sense of movement. Cubic stone materials were used on the floor of the terminal to reduce the speed of vehicles and ensure the safety of passengers.
Terminal specifications: Project area 840 square meters, roof coverage 332 square meters, open space 508 square meters, roof dimensions 17 x 19.5 meters, 12 columns, volume height 6 meters in the center of the facade and 5.5 meters on the sides, and has 4 taxi lanes.
This project seeks to take a step, no matter how small, to revive Iranian architecture in the present era.
