This project is a refurbishment of an office space for the headquarters of a private company in Lisbon. The main challenge was to translate into an architectural language the core values of the company, which are robustness and solidity, while being innovative and future oriented at the same time.
The usage can be divided into 2 different types of spaces - public and private - generating a dialogue between the white working spaces, and the black service spaces. A sculptural wall makes the transition of both spaces while blending together the two parts of the project.
Given the shape of the floor plan, the working spaces are distributed along the external façade, to take advantage of the views, solar gains, natural ventilation and lighting. The bathrooms and kitchen are located on the most internal areas, which have an intermittent occupancy. In order to minimize the use of artificial lighting the meeting and administrative rooms are opened towards the core of the office to bring natural lighting and amplify the spaces.
In terms of the materiality of the spaces, there is a preference for natural and local materials, which also emphasises the core values of the client.
In addition, furniture was specifically designed and tailor made for each space.
