The “grid system” is one of the most important guidelines employed for typesetting and designing layouts in the field of graphic design. This project has been inspired by a house–owning couple, who are graphic designers as well. Hence, this project is founded on a similar concept that involves three-dimensional representations in space. Through the incorporation of these guidelines, the proposed primary design concept entails the representation of proportion and configuration of different quantities and colors within a systematic gridline framework. Therefore, the main elements of this design concept consist of lines, grids, blocks, and colors.
Conceptually, the beams and columns of the site itself can be considered as a “grid system” in the proposed space-drawings, while each functional area in the house space can be considered as “content”. By arranging different color blocks, various approaches can be explored that allow the free expression of a design’s content within the framework of a grid system. Furthermore, the application of distinct arrangements for improving the associations and interactions between the spatial design and the user can also be studied.
